Very beautiful cathedral with beautiful Sunday mass accompanied with a church organ. Not so many tourists, therefore it is ideal for sitting there in peace!
Bologna is a city of several churches that will simply stun you with their beauty and grace. Basilica of San Giacomo Maggiore is a sight to behold no matter which way you look at it. The internal and external design and architecture, and art hanging on walls makes it an essential visit.
This is a huge gothic church built to glorify the bentivoglio family of 15 c Bologna and there is a chapel dedicated to the family which is open on Saturday mornings to see the masterpieces of paintings by Ferrarise painter Costa. One is of the family itself and on the other wall is a magnificent depiction of Triumph of Death and Triumph of Fame, the detail is stupendous!
Beautiful church and surroundings
A beautiful cathedral inside and out. Well worth visiting
Very good art in cappelas
Beautiful and peaceful place! ❤️
Free entry and tourists allowed unless there is mass. They don't allow photos, but that just means you must enjoy in the moment. Highly recommended for the paintings and general interior beauty. Worthy of a visit.
